Last time the party discovered the fate of the mage Madrigar. They also discovered that the evil Distaria current queen of Deserata was injured in the battle. The party continues their debate about what to do with this opportunity. Scalla is worried that one day she will go into the north and become a slave of Distaria's. Several options are discussed on how to save Scallas soul. The group breaks up, Brok wants to go see Izaya to apologize for killing the instructor he was sent. Garu wants to go find his animal companion. and the rest decides to go and see Emror Jun to see what he wants to do with this opportunity.

Brok gets to Izaya's barge and is denied entry by a pair of Sadakadishian guards. He hears a voice behind him, when he turns he sees a person who looks like the woman he had killed (accidentally) in Mountain Vale. They have words and end up fighting. Brok kills her and is arrested by the constables. It turns out she was the other woman’s twin sister.

The rest of the party (minus Garu) meets Priestess Linda who was just about to go and get them since Jun wants to have a council. Morgan gives her condolences to Linda (Madrigar was her brother). They all head to the manor and are met by Arron. He leads them to a dark cellar where there is a meeting about to start. Eventually Garu is rounded up and Brock is released from jail (after paying wereguild). The meeting is started. First to speak is Jun who details the events they've been informed about. Priestess Marcia wants to take an Alt (400 men)and sail for the northern continent right away. She plans to pick up an additional Deseratan Alt that is stationed in the port of Lament then march north to Deserata. Geen agrees and pledges his 200 Brothers of Myrhone and another hundred when they arrive in Lament. Morgan and Garu asks about the comparative strengths of the two kingdoms and Arron outlines the following:

Deserata 1 Alt in the city proper
1 Alt in the northern passes above the city
1 Alt on the Eastern border of Magadrill
2 Alts on the Southern border with Lament based at Stephens Hold.
2 Alts on the Western border in a town called Annadell and an additional 2 Alts further North at Sand Towers.

The rest of the Alts 10 in all are on the far Western border fighting the Second Kingdom.

Sylvias Rest:
5 Alts in Sylvias Rest proper
1 Alt in the village of Kida and the village of Martby Morlan (about 3 days away)
1 Alt in Dymond Hold and another on the far southern border (a week and a half away.)
1 Alt in Mountain Vale
1 Alt on the other side of the Inland Sea in Lament.
2 Alts on maneuvers
All the rest of the Alts 7 in all are in reserve status near and around the city.

Daniel the Black says that he has seen Deserata's Western expanse into the Second Kingdom. He says that Deserata has attacked there rather than invade Sylvias Rest because Deserata doesn't have a port city since they lost Lament. He feels that the rebelion doesn't need to attack.

Various plans are discussed and eventually it is agreed that 1 Alt will be moved to Lament and the 4 others as enough ships can be gathered to transport them. Once in the north the first alt will push as far north as it can to probe the defenses around Stephens Hold, as it's reinforced the other Alts will push north as well. Fin asks why they can't send troops through the gate in Mountain Vale. Daniel seems shocked as if he didn't know about the gate. He grills the bard asking about where it goes. Fin answered that it goes to the lagoon in the capitol city of Deserata. Daniel asks why he wasn't told about it and he is answered by Jun saying that the mages guild has warded it. At this Daniel an exguild mage bristles and looks deep into his ale.

Jun declares a break and the group adjourns for refreshments. During the break Morgan notices that Priestess Linda and Rhe are having a heated conversation. When Morgan interrupts she finds out that Rea is Linda's mother Rhiannon, who was thought dead (she was rescued from the Deseratan prison a few months ago). Rhe seems to be having a good time needling Linda about her failings. Rhe then goes over to see Paladin Marcus. She praises him saying that she would love to spend more time learning about him and such. They make a date for later that evening, just in time Jun calls them all back into the meeting.

They begin to discuss Van Scalla's problem. She of course had been under the influence of the dragon ring (as had Serrif). Scalla voices the opinion that she would not want to join the forces of Distaria and wanted to know what to do. Daniel the Black admits that he has very little ring lore in his back ground but being a mage the transition to slavery for Scalla will be a slow one. It's quite possible she can resist for sixty or seventy years. Someone mentiones killing her and then resurrecting her he warns against that since it would push her right into the incorporeal world of the Queens shadows, additionally he mentions that she should avoid gates off world since her affinity for the Dragon Ring could destroy the gate.

Paladin Marcus speaks up and says that he had been wounded once by a night creature with a wound that refused to heal. He says that he had been to the elvish lands where it was healed. Jun says that it's a well known fact that the elves are being attacked by Distaria and they have offered to help against her. Of course sending Scalla to the elvish lands wouldn't release her from the grip of the ring but would forestall it. However going there would be a problem since it lay on the very borders of Deserata itself and being that close to Deserata might be too much for her.

It is decided that the party will travel to Lament with the army then make it's way north/west towards Deserata traveling along the border until they came to Alwyn (the elvish lands). Once there they would give the elves a lattice device so they could be in communication with Sylvias Rest and ask for sanctuary for Van Scalla. As the meeting breaks up Lind approaches Paladin Marcus. She admits that she really dislikes him but she warns him to be careful when dealing with her mother. She gives him the warning that he should take nothing she offers nor should he give her anything.

Later that eve Rhe stops by the visit Marcus. He refuses to talk with her. She guesses that Linda has poisoned him towards her. She tells him that secretly Linda lusts for him and that is why she pretends to hate him. She gives him a counter warning saying that Linda has been responsible for the death of two Prime Paladins...He should be careful not to be the third.
