The party begins to search the cavern for their stuff. An old iron cage in the corner flashes blue with power and suddenly there is a woman standing there. They let her out of the cage (it wasn’t locked) just as a creature attacks from out of one of the mist enshrouded halls.
The thing is an abomination with tentacles where its eyes should be. It grabs Grevin but the rest of the party makes short work of it. Looking into the area where it was they see a cistern 70 feet deep. Arashi goes down into it, at the bottom he finds a thin trickle of water. A voice laughs at them and the door to the cavern slams close.
The party members put their backs into it but they cannot budge the door. Marius goes down the well but finds that it is now filling with water. They decide to try to find a way out of the room before it floods. Kevin looks at the cage that Violet appeared in, it seems to be some sort of gate, but there are no markings as to where it goes. One by one they get into the cage and are gated away.
They find them selves on a finger of rock on the forest edge. Kevin thinks back and remembers that they mage Estryellia used this rock in the far future and that at that time it was near a place called Dymond Hold (Demon Hold). Heading down the trail they come to the down he described. In Dymond hold they find a tavern called the Crimson Curtain and although it has the same name as the place they went into in the future Dymond Hold it is not the same place.
Having no money the party relies on Violet to obtain money by singing. Kimi goes to bed with the innkeeper. The next morning the group decides to head back to Stand Town and to see if Paladin Araos has arrived with the cure for Paladin Marius. The trip is uneventful but hard as having no money they are forced to scavenge and hunt. At first Arashi has a hard time of finding food, but on the second day easily provides the party with more than enough.
After several days of travel the party passes through Bywater and into the Sadakadishian area. They begin to encounter work gangs being taken to the construction site in Stand Town. They make contact with The Red’s men but he is not available, instead they are put up in good housing while his men search for the Paladin.
Eventually the paladin is found and he administers the cure to Paladin Marius and cures the mage as well. Healed but still missing their equipment they decide to head back to where they encountered the Thaug. The party passes through Steel Gate and then travels the day and a half to where the Thaug nest was. As they enter the cut in the stone the creatures attack.

The party talks with The Red. He tells them that he has been charged with letting no one into the chamber with the “Tears.” Although the party knows they would get permission if they could get word to the high priestess she is several hundred miles away. Araos volunteers to ride back to Sylvia’s Rest, since he has the fastest horse and can make the passage in a fraction of the time.
The party decides that while waiting for him they will adventure back to the creature’s lair and retrieve their stuff. They are joined by four Altmen from the Deserata Garrison. The day and a half journey to the place where they were attacked is uneventful. As they near the cavern they are attacked by the Thaug/Truemen. After a very bloody battle in which the soldiers are killed they party triumphs.
Going into the caverns they find a huge room. The characters begin looking for their stuff.

Kimi-Rogue
Much of the party is sick and have to be lead along. They trio make good time on spectral horses (provided by Kevin.) Two days later just as they are breaking camp they notice creatures approaching from the hills. The things are black as night, Kevin identifies them as either True men or Thaug, either way they are tough foes to handle.
One of the creatures strikes Whore and almost takes her head off, she sinks to the ground dead. Although they manage to kill one of the things the rest of the party is soon unconscious on the ground dying. Kevin the last of the party left standing tries to run but the creatures leap and catch up to him.
They play cruel games with the mage eventually stripping him of his clothing and cutting him with their razor sharp claws. One of the creatures pulls Whores body over and removes the heart. Both of the black things consume it forcing Kevin to participate. The things terrorize the mage for most of the night as well as bothering Whore and Kimi’s bodies.
Later Kevin see’s to Kimi’s and Marius’s bodies and helps stabilize them. The creatures tell Kevin that they will return in 2 hours to finish them off. The things didn’t reckon on Kevin’s remaining spells. Once the other two are partially conscious he casts his spell again and summons mounts and the ride away as fast as they can.
The day after the fight, not sensing if they were being followed or not they make a quick camp and then continue. In the afternoon they come across a cavalry contingent from the north (Sylvia’s Rest.) In the group is paladin Araos one of the three paladins of Chaldisaya raised by former paladin Avec. The two paladins greet each other and Araos says that “Mother,” their name for Van Avec told him to come here three weeks ago and bring extra clothes and weapons.
The party takes the material and they decide on a course of action. As much as they would like to ride back to the creatures den Marius is still under the wasting disease he picked up in the kingdom of the Root and needs to be healed quickly before it kills him. Araos says that in Stand Town there is a forgotten fountain full of the Tears of The Lady and surely using one on him would be okay.
The party decides to ride to Stand Town. They spend a quick night in Steel Gate then ride to Stand Town. When they arrive they find that the governor of the province The Red has gone to bed for the night and cannot be disturbed. The two young paladins decide that maybe they could “sneak in” and get the potion.

With the appearance of hundreds of corpses in their midst the part draws their weapons for battle. A well dressed man approaches and tells them they have nothing to fear, because they have freed them from the tyranny of the Lord of The Root.
After the group lowers their weapons the ambassador escorts them to a lavish hall where a banquet is prepared in their honor. He gives them a brief history of the Lair of the Root. He also tells them that Tim has been chosen as the newest lord.
Tim attempts to decline but the ambassador tells him that it’s not an honor that can be turned down. A ceremonial guard comes in with an axe and a sword. Tim is asked how he wishes to die.
Everyone jumps to Tim’s defense and the battle is joined. Tim is felled and carried off by the ambassador, although horribly mauled the rest of the party follows. Before Tim can be taken into the Root he is saved and the party runs as fast s it can up the hall way.
Both Tim and Grevin notice that the next day their food does not agree with them, they vomit it up and it is full of maggots. Kevin mentions that of the entire party they choose to eat of the food of the Root and maybe that’s why their have having problems.
The party comes to a cave opening that is blocked by a heavy iron gate. There is a very surprised guard on the other side.

The guard on the other side of the gate is surprised to see the party. He goes and gets a sergeant who lets them out of the tunnels. The sergeant apologizes to the part saying that no one usually uses the underground paths since the undead are everywhere down there. The party are taken to the commander.
The characters don’t notice but the village is very unsadakadishian like. Most of the soldiers are unkempt and not wearing the local lords color (red). When they meet the commander he offers a brief introduction (as opposed to the “polite” description of his honors and his lineage.) During the day the party makes the acquaintance with a woman known as “Whore,” she is a ½ Sadakadishian, half Tre hum da woman working for the local lord. She vaguely warns the party that everything is not as it seems in the village.
Later that evening the party attends a dinner with the local lord. Once again he shows he has no “manners” in the Sadakadishian sense. Kimi offers to buy “Whore” from him and he quickly sells her. The dinner wears on and Kevin passes out from drinking. Kimi and Whore go to their rooms and are followed by several guards. Once there they get to the rooms the guards attack them. Kimi holds them off and offers them money if they will stop the attack. The guards agree but only for a huge sum (in the local sense) several gold. The guards tell the two women that they will have to leave the city at once. After paying the gold they are escorted to the city gates.
Still at the dinner Marius is beginning to feel uneasy. Suddenly the doors burst open and several guards come into covered with blood. They say that Kimi “went crazy” and killed several guards. The local lord is enraged and almost draws his blade on the party. He listens to Marius argument that there must be some other reason for what happened. The lord demand “blood price” for the dead guards.
Outside the gates Whore tells Kimi that the inhabitance are a group of bandits that have been raiding the frontier. She says that they would probably kill the rest of the party. In the hall the paladin Marius convinces that “lord” that he (Marius) could probably kill everyone in the room, should they attack him. The lord says that he still needs money to cover the death of his soldiers. The party pays a large bribe and are escorted to the gates of the town where they soon meet up with Kimi and Whore. Fearing that the bandits will attempt to double cross them they quickly head away from the town. The next morning Kevin conjures up steeds for the party and the easily outdistance pursuit.

The trip to Steel Gate is uneventful and they approach the fortress. They cross large moats and pits filled with stakes. The fortress itself nothing more that a large wall filling the valley. It’s obvious that the fortress has not always stood against the tre hum da as hundreds of workers are rebuilding parts of it.
The party reports to the Do Jir of The Red. He gives them a place to rest and relax. Tim and Kimi go exploring against Marius’s wishes. The next day the Do Jir tells the group that they are to scout into the tre hum da area to the east.
They make their way through a tunnel at the end of which they should emerge at a scout tower, there they will be given horses and allowed to scout the south for the tre hum da horde.
After several days uneventful travel through the underworld they come to a detour. Following the trail down they come to a huge cavern filled with tombs. In the center of the room is a large mausoleum. Mauric senses great evil in it.
Despite their warning Tim fires a spell at the building and a large dark spirit emerges from the structure. Paladin Marius steps up the face the undead thing. He kills it but only after the thing wounds him with its life draining ability causing him a grievous wound.
Tim declares the creature slain and pontificates about his role in the destruction of the creature. Suddenly they are surrounded by hundreds of Corpses.

The party decides to not go back into the abandoned city, instead they travel down the Gold Road and meet Tim and Grevin, they join and the party continues moving. After avoiding a sleeping dragon above the road they begin the trip down from the trail.
They come to an oasis at the bottom of the mountain trail. There are signs that a huge encampment of creatures was recently there. They surmise that it was a horde of Tre Hum da.
After carefully looking around they find what looks like a small shrine to the goddess Chaldisaya. There appears to be no entrance to the structure (the doors are painted on.)
As night approaches they party beds down and sees a disturbing sight. Thousands of ghostly Tre Hum Da begin to fill the forest. They jump and caper around the trees, but make no sound.
Arashi proclaims that some of the trees in the forest are not real, they are cunning fakes. They party notices that the ghostly tre hum da fade in and out and go through routines, then start again. They decide that the ghostly tre hum da probably scared off the horde that was there.
The next morning the party sees the caravan begins to descent into the grassland and by the end of the day they are in the oasis. From the north another caravan approaches. The new caravan is led by Tandy Raider and is here to take the gold the rest of the way to the north. The beasts that have been pulling the wagons are slaughtered since it’s the emperor’s orders that none of the southern beasts “pollute” the north.
Raider tells the group that they are relieved from their duty and will be paid when they get to Sylvia’s Rest. They may head to Steel Gate to rest and recuperate.

Adventure Log #74 (The Gold Road)
Dub-Elf Monk
Kevin-Manthootian Mage
Marius-Paladin
Arashi Iki-Druid
The party sets out from the caravan with a mission. The caravan is in desperate need of water. Soon the animals will begin to die if they don’t get any as their carried stocks begin to run low.
The characters are charged with moving far ahead of the caravan and checking the next water hole to make sure that it’s still good. The group moves forward and travels for many days. Eventually they come across a couple of buildings and a poor corn filed that has been planted across the road.
Kevin scared the local halfwit and tramples over his crops with his horse. Marius has better luck with some of the local children. Eventually the Voc of the town comes out and faces the paladin. Marius tells “Shark” the head man that they are looking for water for a caravan. Shark demands the horse Marius is riding in payment. They argue for a bit longer and the party decides to move on, the group feels that although there is water in the village this might not be what the caravan master meant by a watering place. The group moves on for a couple of days up the road but finds nothing.
As they are riding Dub notices a mirror like flash from the surrounding hills. He dismounts and heads up into the hills to investigate. He finds a large mirror like wall that has been uncovered by a rock slide. When he touches the wall its surface ripples like water.
The rest of the group is eventually brought up and although it is deemed “interesting” in that it shows people as them might look in the future, it’s not what they are looking for and they head on.
They are two days beyond the village and have found nothing, so they head back. As they reach the village they find the caravan has just lurched into the area and is filling their water tanks.
The caravan leader has a few words with Marius about not coming back when he found water as he was told to. Marius tells him about the cost and the debate they group had about whether it was the place they were looking for. The caravan master tells him that in the future he needs to make the decisions that affect the caravan.
The group rests and then is sent out to investigate the next water hole. They travel for several days and find nothing. Eventually they come to an area where the whole mountain side has collapsed revealing a series of building that have been cut into the side of the mountain.
Fearing the roofs collapsing they are very careful moving around inside the building. They find one which has a series of baths (now empty) in the front and rows of small statues deeper in. The deepest part of the room is clear except for a statue of an archer aiming at a metal disc in the wall.
A bit of searching reveals that the disc is actually overlapping plates that function like an iris valve. The metal on the places feels vaguely warm and alive. They surmise that moving the archer will open the valve. They get their weapons ready and move the statue. The valve opens and reveals an interior covered in a similar fashion to the metal plates.
The party heads though the winding series of tunnels. After about an hour they end up back in the corridor they started. Dub notices that they missed a secret door; they open it and head down the newly revealed corridor. The patch twists and turns until it comes to an intsection with a door in it. The group decides to come back to the door and continue on down the hallway. With the paladin in the lead they head down the corridor. Suddenly there is a blast of hot air from in front of them and a creature made of molten stone attacks them. Marius is gravely wounded but pushes back at the creature which wades in amongst the party attacking two at a time.
Kevin assails the creature with spells and Arashi takes his beast form. Dub moves into the second rank but finds himself attacked as well. Almost all of the party is blooded by the creature before it collapses into a smoldering pile of coals.
The party heals as best as they can and heads out of the pit in order to get some rest before returning.

Adventure Log #73
Adventure Log #73 The Gold Road
Kimmi-Fighter/Merchant
Dub-Elf Monk
Kevin-Manthootian Mage
Marius-Paladin (son of Marcus)
5 Years have passed since the last adventure. It is the year 142 (ADF).
Several former adventurers are dusting off their traveling clothes. Many of them are traveling by gate to the city of Halla. There they are to meet a caravan and escort it though the desert and past the fierce tribes of Tre hum Da.
Because the Tre Hum Da invades Sadakadish every six years the seventh is considered safe and the best time to travel through their lands. The caravan travels from the Gitean mountain of Hniznig (a mountain made of gold) through a mountain pass known as the “Corridor” and then through Tre Hum Da territory to the gate of the civilized lands near Stand Town.
The party meets the elf, Dub and after the ritual elf bashing they decide to join forces and head to the temple. It’s Marius's job to escort a Chaldite inquisitor. They later find out that the “inquisitor’s” job is to test the deceased priestess Morgan for sainthood.
The party stays in the temple and meets the Bisdern of the religion, a woman called Morgaine that looks a lot like the priestess Morgan.
Eventually the caravan edges into town. The caravan master is leading a group of wagons manned by creatures known as Gites. The party guesses that the caravan is coming from the Gitean town known as Hnasnig which is next to a golden mountain. As the group introduces themselves to the caravan master they learn that the caravan is carrying gold from Hnasnig to Sylvia’s Rest for use by Deserata and the Chaldite church.
Some of the more seasoned party members are interested in the beasts pulling the wagons. Usually the main caravan creature is a four legged herbivore simply called Beasts. They are known for their slow but steady walk and mild temperament. The caravan has larger “Beastlike” creatures with claws and fangs. The caravan master tells the party that these are Southern Beasts are the opposite of their northern cousins
The part are freed from the drudgery of simple caravan duty by being used as “breakers” to ride ahead and scout the road for any hazards that the caravan will encounter. The first day out they encounter an intelligent mould call a troll under one of the bridges the caravan will cross under.

Time has moved.
5 years of game time has gone by. In that time many of the characters have went their seperate ways.
It is rumored that Ming and Roscoe have moved out of Sorroth and established a fighting order to fight the time of the long night three humdred years from now.
Estreyellia has been rarely seen, it is said that all she does is study at her manor on the shore of Sorroth.
Little has been heard of Fion, his song "The Death of Paladin Marcus" is sung in few places.
It was widelt celebrated that Jkenna Jun has married the Priestess Karieen and they have two children, a boy and a girl.
There is word in the small Chaldite community that the priestess Morgan is to be made a saint of the church.
Soldiers on the northern frontier swear that somtimes they see a lone figure all clad in armor riding the Deseratan border. Thought to be the doomed paladin Marcus, if a soldier has the wits about him to give the Deseratan salute the figure is said to salute back before dissapearing back into the mist. Some also claim aoccasionally the warrior is accompanied by a specter that has the appearance of the mage Scalla.
They also say that the one armed elf Garu lurks the border of Alwyn, not allowed into the elvish kingdom but not knowing why.

The party is suprised to find the village populated. The people seem nice but distant. The next day the group explores the village but doesn't find out anymore information except that it doesn't seem to have a link with the sheesh.
They set out to explore the inside rim of the crater and find a fissure in the stone and an enclave of sheesh not afraid of magic. After defeating the creatures they find that there is a gate to another world in the tunnels, they block it up as best as they can.
As near as they can tell the "off world" sheesh had taken over the village and the village of the local sheesh. After leaving the crater, the wall grew up filling in the hole and sealing the party off from Go3, for now.

The party holds up for the night in the barn and the next day decide to move off into the woods to the east of the stedding in order to find out whets going on. Garu detects sheesh (like orcs) tracks and reads the territorial markers (small statues carved out of poop). He says that the tribe is interested in being left alone and they don’t seem to mean any harm to the party.
They decide that since the property has been empty for 15 years the sheesh have moved in, they will have to be told that they property is no longer empty. First the party decides to head back to Sorroth to get the supplies they will need as well as picking up some workers to help out with running the place.
When they arrive in Sorroth Ming and Roscoe bid their farewells as does Garu the elf. Estryellia goes to the local hiring hall and meets Gina (a dwarf paladin) and Roxie a human barbarian. They also meet Arashi Iki a druid they had met a year ago in the battle for Stevens Hold. The trip back to the manor is uneventful.
After a day getting unpacked the group decides to track the Sheesh back to their village. They arrive at a small camp near a waterfall. In the cliff face there is a large fissure, sheesh are coming and going into the hole in the cliff. A large gransheesh spots them and charges. The fight is decided quickly and the party decides to follow the tracks into the hole. After traveling for a while the hole opens into a huge crater, below them is a small village and several roads.
Getting on to the road they decide to follow it in to the village. Estryella feels that she has been here before. One of the party point up at the huge dome of glasslike material that covers the crater. As they enter the village they find a piece of the dome has fallen and sits near the center of town. The dwarf studies it carefully and discovers that it’s some kind of diamond. They look around the village a bit and discover that it’s empty, only some grey moss lying around. After hang around for a couple of hours they smell baking bread.
They go down into the kitchen and find an oven that is busily baking bread. The dwarf hacks a hole in the floor and after a few minutes a miniature wave of green liquid flows into the room and fills the hole. After a few minutes the material hardens and the hole isn’t noticeable. After making a detailed investigation of the entire village they find that it looks like a village but there aren’t any signs of life in it. It looks more like a village made for show. It begins to get dark so the party heads to a room in the inn to get some sleep.
The next morning they are awoken to the sound of people moving about in the kitchen and the smell of cooking food. When they open the door a maid is standing there who says, "Welcome to Go3."
Note on Go 3 (A note on Go3 and why it’s important.) Years ago the characters were asked to save a village form marauding sheesh. The village was named Gol and the villagers acted VERY peculiar. After staying there for a while they discovered that the villagers were some sort of technological golems. The characters eventually defeated the sheesh and left the town. A couple of years later they characters heard about a town called Go2 but few ever went there except for Paladin Marcus. He noticed that Gol and Go2 were basically the same village but in different parts of the world. Although he lived with his family in Go2 he never told anyone of his discovery. After being greeted with, “Welcome to Go3” the party understood that they had been given the wrong name for the first city it wasn’t Gol, but rather Go1. Why three villages were built hasn’t been determined.)

CHARACTERS
Estryellia-Sorcerer-Newly come of age
Garu-Elf Ranger-One armed elf archer
Ming Hao-Monk/Former soldier of Roscoe’s wife.
Roscoe-Hobbit-Toughest hobbit in the world. Ming’s husband.
Fione-Bard about town
Safely in port Estryellia goes to a local Speaker (like a lawyer) and states her claim to her inheritance. The speaker makes her touch a jewel which frosts over when it touches her hand. He says that she is the second person this year to claim the land but the jewel knows her as her father’s daughter so he gives her the deed to the property and directions, it’s the last stedding in the north.
Roscoe goes home and spends some time with his huge extended family. Not much is said about his marrying Ming (a human). Mostly the gathering centers around how much the Tok’s can eat in a 2 hour period. Eventually Estryellia excuses herself and goes to a hostle set aside for human company. The next day Roscoe and his cousins decide to go to “High Town” to throw eggs at some of the local government.
Later Roscoe is approached by a person claiming to be a Paladin of Chaldisaia. He says that the temple has detected the holy artifact he is carrying a Tear of Chaldisaya (which he has stolen) and would like him to turn it over to the temple. He agrees but only if he accompanies the paladin to the temple. When he gets there he see’s the temple needs a bit of repair. When the priestess comes over to see him he recognizes that priestess as Cibel Chalet, the EVIL priestess he killed several years ago, when she was holding a knife to Mings throat. He hands the Tear over and leaves the temple.
The party decides to go to Estryellia’s stedding to help her get settled in. They purchase an ox and cart and head north following the shore line. The second day of traveling brings them to the end of the Northern Road and a small cluster of buildings. Most are in pretty poor repair and yield nothing when being searched. The only 2 interesting things seem to be a 50 foot high column (missing and inscription plate) and a building with no apparent entrance sitting in the middle of the yard.
The building is small and block shaped. Searching around the stedding that evening they hear noises in the fields. When they get out there they find 30-40 stick dolls scattered around the ground. It also looks like someone was tilling the soil. Moving into the orchard they find that someone has lashed stones to the orchard trees. The party decides to head back to the buildings since it’s getting really dark. When they arrive they find a set of the stick dolls representing each of them. For safety they decide to all stay in the barn. In the middle of the night they are awoken by the sounds of a fire. In the middle of the stedding someone has put a huge stick doll on the stone column and set it afire.

Estryellia-Sorcerer-Newly come of age
Garu-Elf Ranger-One armed elf archer
Roscoe-Hobbit-Toughest hobbit in the world
Fione-Bard about town
The Shadow Dancer pulls away from the docks with most of the party aboard. They get settled into their cramped quarters and then meet the master of the ship, he’s Daniel Jarvis Avec. The son of Linda Avec (the Mad Paladin) on the ship is also his wife and child. Roscoe mentions that he and Ming will be getting off at Nile Cor but Daniel Jarvis says that the ship isn’t stopping there since the Second Kingdome’s would tax the ships cargo value just for stopping in port.
The ship continues to sail through the Inland Sea but instead of turning towards the sole outlet onto the greater ocean the ship enters the Phase Plane (similar to being ethereal) and then exits in one of the oceans. The part notices that the crew doesn’t seem in the least bit surprised by what happened. When they talk to Daniel Jarvis he tells them that this is one of the “advantages” the ship posses. He tells them they are now in one of the worlds 14 seas and on their way to the isle of the Aelopineanians, a cat like race where he has a cargo to drop off.
Arriving in the port a group of bipedal cats come aboard and begin to off load the cargo. Estryellia decides to go ashore. She finds that everywhere she goes the inhabitance take a great interest in her watching her every move like they would watch a mouse. She is encouraged by a local (human) to get back on the boat. Later she learns that some Aelopineanians hunt humans.
The ship weighs anchor and heads back into the deep sea. Several days later they come upon what at first is thought to be an island but as they get closer it turns out to be a city floating on the sea. The city is made of glass and steel. In the middle of it sit seven large pyramid like structures in a ring. Daniel tells them that it’s a Magadrillian Floating city. He tells them that it’s best to steer away from them because trading with the Magadrillins is tedious at best.
After a few days at sea the ship makes another “ocean leap” and then comes to the city of Sorroth. At Sorroth the ship puts into port and the party debarks. Estryella and the group are put up at a hotel while the cargo is sold and the money put in a bank. Roscoe encounters some of his family who come to meet him and invite him home. Everyone decides that this will best be done after some rest.

The party watches from a distance as the coup is cleaned up. Eventually they are escorted back to the manor (with more guards). After a day of waiting the Jkenna summons the people to a huge audience. There he hands out the following justice:
The leader of the coupe’s life is forfeit. Under Magadrillian law the attempted murder of a leader carries a penalty that the family of the assassin must pay in that they are transported to the Shore of Sorrows and have the boat that they are on burned at sea with them upon it. Jun stays that part of the sentence, instead he strips them of all lands as well as citizenship of Deserata. None of them may enter Deserata for 10 years on pain of death.
Jun also revokes the “Rank Money” of members of the armed forces that took part against him in the coup. Altmen who obeyed the illegal order are to be removed from ranks and bared from service except those wishing to enlist in the Myronites.
The Alts that took part in the insurrection are to be removed from the ranks of the forces of Deserata. Their battle honors removed from the role call of the fallen. For the 16th Alt-All of the commanden shall receive ½ of their Rank Price in gold. Altmen and such will receive 2 years towards their Silver Bracer. Those who are within 6 months of their bracer will receive 1 or 2 years pay 20th.
The party gets the following:
Estyrellia gets some money and the thanks for the crown.
Ming is given the right to raise a sub alt of men (at the crowns expense). Also he says that the Deseratan Empire will stop expanding in to Sadakadish.
Kimi is given relieve from taxes and duties owed to the crown for 10 years.
Fionne is pardoned from all crimes, even those committed in the elvish kingdom and that the crown of Deserata will pay reparations’ to the elvish throne.
Roscoe is annoyed that he’s not given anything but bears it out.
At the end the jkenna announces that Sylvia’s Rest will soon be made smaller as the bulk of the troops will return to the northern continent and resettle near Deserata. Roscoe is contacted by Fean telling him that he needs some help in “freeing” a person held in the Jkennas dungeon. Roscoe asks if it’s one of the coup leaders and Fean says “No.” Fean and Roscoe discuss it and Roscoe decides to take the job. Fean tells Roscoe that the mission is in saving THE coup leader. Roscoe decides to go to Jun and tell him everything.
The party returns to their home. Karieen has a service at the mostly finished temple and the rest of the day passes. Karieen, Estryellia and Roscoe have an audience with the Jkenna. He once again thanks them for standing with him during the coup. Roscoe mentions that he didn’t receive a reward. Jun says that since Roscoe broke with his mentor (The Red) he feels that it would be an affront to reward him publically. He offers Roscoe a sum of money as a reward. Roscoe then tells him about the plot and they discuss how to keep Roscoe and his family safe after informing.
Roscoe suggests that Ming and he leave the country and Jun agrees. Jun decides to have the coup leader killed that night in order to make it look as if Roscoe tried but failed to save the coup leader. They have the leader (Grin) brought to the meeting. Grin is unrepentant saying that Jun is a poor leader and wasted men at the battle of Stephens hold a month or so earlier. Jun fires back that Grin’s opinion isn’t important since he (Jun) is the Jkenna and therefore appointed by God to lead. He says that he was raised to be Jkenna and the fact that the goddess in human form Karieen is at his side shows that he is doing the right thing. He goes on to mention that kidnapping his intended (Karieen) sent the worn message to him and the people, soiling it.
Grin says that he only had the intended and Juns mistress (Estryellia) kidnapped to keep them safe from harm. Jun has Grin sent back to the dungeon. Estryellia mentions to Jun that she feels that it was he Jun that paid to have Grin sprung from the prison so that he won’t be forced to kill Grin. Jun ends all discussion on that line of thinking with a disapproving scowl. Karieen and Estryellia have a talk about Estryellia having sex with Jun. Estryellia admits to the indisgression and Karieen says that it won’t happen again. Most of the party prepares to leave.

(This adventure takes place at 2:00am in the morning before the actions of the last adventure.)
Ming, Roscoe and Gaur retreat back to the walls of the manor house because it’s been determined that the defenders cannot hold the ridge of the hill any longer. As they enter they see Jkenna Jun directing the shoring up of the defenses of the manor. They can tell by the faces of the soldiers none expect to leave the place alive.
The trio binds their wounds as best as they can awaiting the next attack. They see a former comrade a Manthootian female named Kimi and the bard Fione. The last time they saw Kimi she was living in Mountain Vale, trying her hand at investing in the local economy. She tells them that she is in Sylvia’s Rest escorting Van Maug (the widowed lady of Mountain Vale) to Jkenna Jun's wedding. She rode ahead to make sure that things were in place for the visiting party and the comfort of Van Maug who is six months pregnant.
They ask her where the party is and she tells them that she left them a day ago to the north traveling the trade road. They ask who is in the party and learn that Kenna Alexander (Jkenna Jun's cousin) is leading the party with an honor guard of half and alt of troops (about 200 men). After commenting that Kenna Alexander has obviously brought enough men to guard his ego they hit upon a plan.
They know that besides from being a “blow hard” he is a staunch supporter of the royal family, but not a great friend of Jun’s. They decide to tell Jkenna Jun about Alexander’s position. Jun questions Kimi about where she left Alexander and where they should be camped. They figure he should be about an hour away from the manor in the highlands. Jun hastily scribbles a note to Alexander telling him to come as fast as possible to their aid. Jun gives the note to Kimi and tells her that it’s important that they arrive no later than 4:00am.
That gives the group about an hour to get to Alexander and get his “honor guard” moving. They manage to slip out of the Manor and head towards the South. Roscoe takes the lead. They encounter a rebel patrol and several of the group are hurt but the patrol is taken care of.
Eventually the trade road begins to rise up into the cliffs that surround Sylvia’s Rest. About 120 years ago when Sylvia’s rest was built it was the major port of The Death Master Absolum’s realm. Expecting an attack from the south Absolum had a small keep built at the top of the cliffs over looking Sylvia’s Rest. The trade road goes through its courtyard and taxes are collected there. Unless one is a mountain goat there is no way around the keep (there are game trails up the cliffs but they take hours to traverse).
Because Sylvia’s Rest is a thriving port the doors to the keep are always open…except tonight. The gates are closed and they know from traveling the road that there is a small court yard and then another set of gates. They see some soldiers on the walls but for the most part they ignore the party. Some yelling elicits a few arrows from the guards.
The party decides that Fione will create a diversion and Kimi, Gaur, Roscoe and Ming will climb up the wall and control of the south side of the keep. Only Ming is able to quickly scale the tower and she draws the guards. Gaur comes up second and on Ming instructions goes down into the tower to try to let the others in. When he reaches the bottom door her finds that it’s both bolted and locked. Upstairs Ming is fighting the captain of the guard and two of the common Altmen.
Outside of the walls Fione had used his pipes to summon some rats which prove to be only a minor annoyance to the soldiers. Most of the men on the wails are crowding towards the tower where Ming and Garu are fighting. With a yell Ming takes down the Captain of the Guard but goes down seconds later just as Roscoe gets to the top of the tower. Roscoe trades crossbow fire with the remaining guardsmen while Garu takes on the others.
Kimi gets to the top of the tower but is gravely injured blood flowing from several wounds. The fight continues but the guards don’t receive any reinforcements so the superior fighting skills of the party eventually carry the day. The rebel altmen surrender. Fione uses what little healing he has to save Ming.
It’s now 3am and time is of the essence. They talk to the captured guards and find out that there aren’t any other troops in the here and that Kenna Alexander is camped a quarter of a mile from the keep. The party decides to hold the keep just incase any other rebels are nearby while Kimi heads to where Alexander is camped.
Kimi limps into Alexander’s camp and tells him the story. He calls his escort half an alt (200 men) from their beds and details his alt leader to follow along the road and meet him at the manor. With that he and several of his mounted lieutenants head to the manor.
The party left at the keep are busy wedging the gate mechanisms open when Kenna Alexander and his horsemen gallop through. They are heartened by it because it means that Kimi got through but it’s made mention that counting Kenna Alexander there are only six riders. Twenty minutes later the first of the 20th Alt (the Royal Black Alt) come marching up. They detail a few men to assist the party then march towards Sylvia’s Rest; they are soon followed by another hundred men. The party binds its wounds and waits for dawn. At 8am. Karieen wakes to find Jkenna Jun planting a kiss on her forehead. He smiles and loyal altmen fill the room looking for the plotters. Part of The Dark Future has been defeated for now.

The party settles down for the evening at the manor house of Karieen (a gift from Jkenna Junico).
12:00Around midnight there is a knock at the door. Garu who was studying in the main room answers it. A group of royal soldiers enter and three head up the stairs. Karieen is woken up by the knocking on her door. When she answers it she sees’s an Alt commander who introduces himself as Grin Hostigo from the 4th Alt. He says he’s been sent by the Jkenna on a matter of life or death. Karieen offers to get her clothes but the Altman says that things have been made ready for her where they are going. Karieen goes to get a heavy robe while the alt commander goes to Estryellia’s door. Estryellia as also convinced to gather up a few belongings and head to the waiting carriage.
12:01 Garu tries to enter the carriage but is told to ride one of the horses with the cavalry unit behind it. The carriage leaves but the cavalry escort is detained and Garu and now Ming and Roscoe are with the escort, however enough time has passed that the carriage is out of site. As they emerge from the manors gates they see that there are a number of fires in the dock area. They question the escort as to where the carriage is and are told that they took another route for safety. The characters and the escort head off to the South. After several minutes of riding they turn east following the harbor when they are ambushed. Fire of bullroarers fills the air and much of the escort goes down. The party reins in their horse and takes a back way. When they get back to the main road they see that the local inn has been barricaded. They bypass it and continue heading to the docks.
12:30The carriage slows and Karieen and Estryellia see they are near the northern part of the town. Off to the east is the Inland sea, a small boat is prepared at the dock. The carriage comes to a stop and the women are hurried inside in the company of a group of Altmen. In the main hall is a woman who introduces herself as Disheva of the Venfall School of Magic. She tells them that a coup has started and that Jkenna Junico wants them here in order to be out of the way. They are given clothes to wear and a room to get themselves together; later they are served Coyn (tea) and some food.
1:00amGaru, Ming and Roscoe arrive at the southern bridge (One of the entries to the dock area) they are blocked from crossing the bridge by soldiers from the 6th Alt. The characters ask some of the locals if they know what’s going on but receive very mixed responses (demons and witches). The party decides to head back to the barricades. Once at the barricades they discover that the barricades were erected by the owner of the inn to keep marauding soldiers from attacking the inn (this happened a couple years ago during an Sahaugin attack). Returning to the area where they cavalry was attacked they see a large group of troops using the road and heading towards the docks. The group gets across the road and hides at the base of the hill that the royal manor is on. They come across former Prime Paladin and her charges (she’s training the next generation of paladins…in theory). She doesn’t have much to say to them but she does tell them about the secret path to get up to the top of the hill. 1:00amEstryellia and Karieen decide to get some sleep.
1:30Ming, Roscoe and Garu arrive at the top of the hill. They check the temple but find it empty. They head over to the Jakenna’s manor and see a mass of troops around it. As they get closer they see even more troops below the hill covering where they were sleeping earlier that night. In a conference they learn that the 14th, 4th and 6th Alt have staged a coup. The 16th alt has remained loyal The characters start to mention to Aaron the Jkennas man about the fact that Karieen and Estryellia have been captured by the rebels. Aaron silences them and tells them that it’s best if they say nothing other wise Jkenna Junico would attempt to lead a rescue and that would be disastrous at this time. The characters are asked to go on “the line.” They meet sub alt leader Mer and help repel a charge up the hill by the rebels. Slowly the defenders give ground and retreat from the crest of the hill to the fortified manor.Rebel troops begin to attempt to climb the walls.
8:00am Estryellia and Karieen wake up and eat some breakfast. They ask about their friends (Ming, Roscoe and Garu) Disheva says she will send someone to go find them. Minutes later an Altman comes in with some news. He tells it to Disheva who intern informs Estryellia and Karieen that Jkenna Jun was killed in the fighting.Karieen is upset but now determined to have someone fetch the Tears of the Goddess she had obtained in stand town. Dishevia tells her that they will be sent for.
9:00am a very defeated looking Garu and Roscoe enter the room. They tell Estryellia and Karieen that they have come to take them to safety but they need to go now. Roscoe tells Karieen that Jun has died and that his wife Ming has been missing since the end of the fighting. Estryellia accuses the two of not being the "real" Roscoe and Garu. She throws a spell to get her and Karieen out of the building. Discovered Diheva tries to disrupt it but fails and the two women end up swimming in the ocean. Estryellia throws the spell a couple more times and they end up further down the coast away from the soldiers.

Estryellia-Sorcerer-Newly come of age
Garu-Elf Ranger-Tool of elvish revenge
Ming Hau-Martial Artist-Former soldier of The Red
Fion-Bard-Misunderstood “Elf Beater”
Karieen-Last priestess of Chaldisaya-Future wife of the Emperor of Deserata
The party enters the “park” that use to be the Temple of Chaldisaya. Years ago the temple was attacked and destroyed. The building was pulled down and trees have been planted but things don’t seem to grow very well there and there have been reports of sightings of “things” in the ruins.
Karieen, who was part of the person known as Scalla is the last priestess of the Goddess Chaldisaya. She has been charged with cleaning the site and driving the evil away. A few weeks ago a supply of liquid called Tears of Chaldisaya was delivered from Stand Town. Armed with the “tears” the party enters the grove.
All is quiet and the outside world takes on a misty shade as they enter. Garu notices that the trees are slowly beginning to make a wall around the park as if the hide it or keep something in. When he picks a blade of grass it turns to ash in his fingers. He notices that where Karieen had stepped the grass has turned black. Karieen begins a prayer as she does flames cover her. She screams and falls to the ground as the party tries to put out the flames.
Thrust into a dream she see’s the ground give way beneath her and she falls into a deep pit. Inside the pit a long dead version of herself looks at her and motioning towards the “tears” it begs for a drink of water. As the fire is put out she wakes up. Shaken but not scared she begins the ritual with the following prayer:
"Hear my prayer, Chaldisaya.
Although my troubles be great,
My journey be long,
And the darkness all around me.
Hear my prayer Chaldisaya.
Give me the strength,
Ease my burdens
And light my path. Although
I stand before the abyss
Allow me to carry your word and sword
So as to bring your light into the dark places of the world."
*The prayer was written by Fabian and belongs to him
There is a sudden darkness, when it lifts the park looks older. The trees are large and conceal the park from the road. Garu looks outside and sees unfamiliar ships in the harbor, most are flying either a black star on a while field or the sign of the “Winged Man” In the distance they hear what might be sheesh (orc) voices.
Garu enters a dream state:
Garu’s Dream Garu finds himself standing in the narrow neck of a mountain pass. All around him are elvish archers many are wounded and there are few spare arrows to go around. In the distance an army approaches. It’s an army of retreating humans; most wear the uniform of Deserata.
The force streams past the elves. Near the end rides a group of horsemen that Garu recognizes. He see’s Ming Hao dressed all in red. With her is Izaya and a man wrapped in bloody bandages. A figure robed in orange and red rides with them, extreme heat seems to radiate off if it. They salute Garu and the elves and make their way through the pass.
Now there is nothing in front of them except for the cast offs of the retreating army. Soon there is a rumbling and into the pass pours a sheesh force, which seems to have no end. Garu and the elves fire their arrows and reap a bloody harvest of the horde, but it comes on still until there are no more arrows and they attack the sheesh with swords and long knives.
Garu fights but sees the horde overwhelm them. Soon there are only small islands of elves amidst the twisted creatures. Garu feels a pain in his side; he turns and slays the sheesh that stabbed him. Another stabs him and he hacks at it as well cleaving its body in two. There is more pain and he finds it hard to raise his sword, he is overwhelmed. His earthly body lost amongst the sheesh his spirit self stands up and makes its way to where the Vanar wait with their ships to take the last elves to the Havens.
Estryellia enters a dream state:
Estryellia’s dream She rides at the side of her father, the horses are tired but they are almost to the river. They pass a fort where in another time a boy named Ian blushed when he saw her ankle, but that was long ago and the boy is long gone.
Now Altmen man the fort knowing that it’s their job to hold the sheesh as best as they can. There is a salute from the soldiers, her father acknowledges it. The bridge has been dismantled so the horses splash through the river. Some of the water lands on her robe and sizzles off with the heat. Once on the other side they stop. Her father hands over the wounded man he has been carrying. He rides over to where she sits.“You could come to the citadel with us, make a stand there.”She shakes her head He nods. There have never been easy words between them, silence has always been more comfortable. He salutes her and rides over to where the healers have been ministering to the Jkenna. They load him into a waiting cart and move to the south.
She sits alone for a long while. The sheesh overwhelm the fortress. There are no retreating soldiers to warn her of the approaching sheesh, only a loud thunder. The brown wave stops at the edge of the water. Sheesh are afraid of water she thinks. With a wave of her arm fire rains from the sky, “Now they have something to fear." Sheesh kill sheesh in attempts to flee from the area and the army falls into disarray. “This will take some time for them to fix.” She says to herself.
There comes a presence on the battle field. She is able to mark its passage because sheesh that come near it die. The presence speaks a word of power and she is almost knocked off her horse by it. The second one does kill her horse and it’s all she can do to deflect the bolts of power away from herself. The Voice, snarls and curses in true speech. Each word a blast of power. The fight goes on a long time. Estryellia looks at the sun. It’s moved. She’s been holding for hours that seem like days.
The Voice is weakening; Stand Towns walls can hold now, she thinks. A bolt staggers her and she can’t stand up. Lava like blood pumps from the wound setting bushes on fire.It starts to rain as the sheesh begin across the river.
Fion enters the dream state:
Fions Dream The bandages are fresh on the Jkenna but already blood is soaking through them. He follows Izaya through the inner hallways. Behind him is The Red, Min Hao. They come to a large door. Min stations herself there as it’s opened for Izaya and the Jkenna. It’s obvious she’s staying on this side.
Fion helps them close the door but stays with Ming. He strums a song but decides it’s too sarcastic as the first of the man sheesh come down the tunnel. Ming almost dances into combat brings down sheesh by the score. They are almost hip deep amongst the dead and dying when the sound of scraping of metal against stone can be heard. A large figure steps around the corner wearing dark blood stained armor. It lifts its visor and they see the dead withered face of Paladin Marcus. Ming hisses an insult at him and they move closer together to fight.
They all wake up and they are back in the present, the tears have purged the bad dreams from the place, it is cleansed. The party makes its way back to the manor and gets some rest.
Later they are summoned by the Jkenna who has a mission for them. He wants them to go and escort several notables to Mountain Vale but the party refuses the task. He then asks if they will go north and see what is left of Deserata. This seems a bit more to the parties liking and they promise to discuss it.
Scalia’s Life
(Scalla is a character that has come under the thrall of the Great Dragon ring. Currently she is at the head of the army of the Dark Woman) As the elf blood leaves her system the world returns to its normal shades of grey that the undead see. Van Sherrie tells her that they will be parting company; her army is going to the south to face the Jkenna while The Voice has commanded her to go to the ruin of Deserata. Scalla begins her walk to the formerly holy city.
She walks day and night barely noticing the differences in the days. Occasionally she throws herself on the ground to rest but the compulsion of The Voice pushes her onward. When possible she eats rats and lizards caught and consumed raw.
After a week Scalla arrives at the ruin. Even in her unfeeling form the site disturbes her. There is nothing left of the Jeweled City. A pile of formerly molten glass covers much of the area. The giant statue She Who Stands Defiantly is gone as is Red Isle and the hill where Deserata proper stood. Scalla walks on the broken glass until The Voice tells her to “dig”.
Using her magic she clears some of the slag away until she is close to the earth itself. With no mind to the glass shards she completes clearing away the rest of the rubble until she uncovers the body of An Arch Morgan. For a moment she regards her friend’s corpse. The babbling of The Voice leaves her brain as Morgan’s head moves and speaks, “Daughter, all is not lost. There will be once chance for your redemption. When the time comes you must strike you best blow.” The body falls silent and The Voice returns to her head, “The Tongue” it demands. With her bloodied fingers Scalla removes the tongue from Morgan’s corpse.

With her bloodied fingers Scalla removes the tongue from Morgan’s corpse.

Part of the group has set sail for Sorroth in the north (Estryellia, Roscoe and Ming) the rest are waiting to see what happens in Sylvia’s Rest. The group on the ship is enjoying the sites of the southern coastline, which is much rockier than the northern shore. After several hours Roscoe (Who has sailing skills) notices that the crew is getting restless and the captain is paying a lot of attention to something behind them. Fearing Imbarrian Pirates Roscoe watches and sees what develops.
A sail is soon seen and is catching up as if the merchantman is standing still. The ship is identified as a cutter from Sylvia’s Rest. The captain hails the vessel, which asks him to stand by to be boarded. Three Deseratan officers come aboard and ask Van Estryellia if she will come back to Sylvia’s Rest. The mage says "no" so the Deseratans tell the ship to head back to Sylvia’s Rest.
As the ship heads back to port Roscoe tells Ming that perhaps he acted hastily in asking her to move to Sorroth. He tells her that he has visited the future and he saw there a world overrun with vampires. He says that he has been thinking that maybe he should help the fight rather than run away from it.
Once in the harbor the ship docks and a high-ranking soldier come on board. they say that by order of the Emperor Junico I, Estryellia is to come with him to talk with the Emror. A palanquin awaits and although unhappy about the turn of events she follows him to her transport.
Ming and Roscoe are approached by the captain who informs them that he’s going to have to wait in port until he’s released by the harbormaster. Ming and Roscoe decide to go in town. Once off the boat a man wearing nice clothes approaches them. He seems to know who they are and talks with them at length. The three of them decide to walk the stalls of the open-air market. Their new friend who has identified himself, as Ivan Fean seems to know something about every stall on the street.
He motions them down a side way where they pass more stalls. Eventually they come to a door wedged in between a fish stall and a grocer. Ivan heads through the door and up the stairs. Ming feels how rickety the stairs are as they head up them. At the landing they come to a large empty room overlooking a marsh. Ivan points how nice the place is (it isn’t) and how much can be done with it. Ivan tells them they can have the place for ONLY 35 gold a month (most inns charge a copper a night and there are 10 copper to a gold). Roscoe tells him that it’s too much and they could never afford that rent.
Ivan replies that the local shopkeepers will be willing to help with the cost of the house and anything else Roscoe gets from them he can keep (in excess of 35 gold). Roscoe ponders running a protection racket with the thieves guild.
In the manor Karieen talks religion with her assistant Dalcimer who seems not to know (or care) about the church. Karieen decides that in place of the three cemamonies a day like the church use to do (when there were tons of priests/priestesses) she will have on in the late afternoon.
She hears muffled talking coming from the other room and goes to investigate it. Garu and Fionn are still discussing Fionns punishment; although they were told to hold off on it the two are talking about what they should do. The obvious choice would be a whipping, however since elves are held in such low esteem the site of a human being flogged by an elf might cause a riot.
Karieen enters and they have lunch of cold peck peck and cheese.
Estryellia is fuming mad as she walks up the steps to Jun’s rooms. When she enters he dismisses his attendants so they are alone. Estryellia demands to know why he had her brought back to Sylvia’s Rest. She points out that she is a free woman and shouldn’t be treated so. Jun tells her that she is a free woman but it is tradition if one is a personage of note that she should have asked his permission before leaving court. They move on to other topics. He mentions that Karieen will soon (tomorrow) attempt to put the old temple to rest and he is worried for his future bride. As the only mage in the area he asks her to stay long enough to see her through the process. Estryellia agrees to help before leaving.
After lunch Karieen ask Dalcimer to have handbills passed out in the area of the new temple to tell locals that there will be a worship service in the evening. The service comes and goes with Karieen doing a good job. In the distance the characters see the form of Van Linda and her charges standing and listening. After the service Roscoe informs Karieen that he wishes to become a chaldite (stunning both Karieen and Ming). He takes the oath of understanding with the lady.
That night Garu has a dream that he’s standing in a burning elvish forest. When he wakes up he can smell the burning wood on his clothes.
Roscoe wakes up in the middle of the night to find him naked on a huge stage similar to the one he was on in the Dark Future. Out of the darkness he can see the audience of vampires watching him. As they rush the stage he runs for the back door but falls through it waking up when he hits bottom.
The party travels to the old temple near the docks. Even thought the area had been made into a shrine there have been no offerings left. Armed with the Tears of Chaldisaya the party enters the ruins.

Karien-Priestess of Chaldisaya
The party is resting from their return from Stand Town, where they recovered some of the Tears of Chaldisaya for use in the cleansing of the old temple.Estryellia goes for a walk to clear her head. Ross and Ming are summoned to their lord’s waiting room to hear some news from him. Garu mulls over what he's going to do to Fion (he's been directed by his future wife’s brother to punish Fion for beating her). Karien is in the manor trying to learn the art of statecraft.
Ross's meeting with his lord Izay goes bad, he is released from service. He is told that he will be repayed the money he was missing and given passage on a ship and should never return. Ross is told to hand over his weapon. He refuses and the Red snaps his fingers and the blade explodes into a cloud of dust. The Red tells Ming that he won't ask her to make a choice between her lover (Roscoe) or her life in service to a Peacelord. Izaya tells her that when she is done with this life she should return to service. Ming bows and for the first time in her life has no duties except to herself.
Estryellia wanders near the docks and is approached by one of her father’s men. He escorts her to his chambers where he is having the room dusted. Her father (Izaya the Peacelord) tells her that she is at the age where she should consider choosing a husband, he mentions several suitors but Karieen says that she believes that she is married to her art (magic). "In that case" Izaya says she should have her inheritance; a small manor in distant Sorroth and some money towards it's up keep. Her father tells her she has been a dutiful daughter (About as "mushy" as Izaya gets) and he wishes her luck. Estryellia goes back to the docks and books passage on the next ship leaving Sylvia’s Rest.
As breakfast continues Tandy Radier pops in and offers Ross a job doing various things (probably illegal) for the dandy. Radier gives the Tok business cards for the places where he shops. Ming and Ross go shopping.Garu, Fion and Estryella discuss the punishment to be meted out on Fion. Because of the anti-elf sentiment on the world in general they all agree that the sight of an elf whipping a human in the public square might trigger a riot. Karieen agrees to bring the subject up when she sees the Jkenna (lord) later in the day (they're betrothed to be married soon).
Fion and Garu head to the local bar for some heavy drinking.Ross and Ming finish their shopping but they decide that they will leave Sylvia’s Rest instead of staying. Ross proposes to Ming, who has no idea what this is all about but says, "Yes". They go to the bar to have a celebratory drink. As a Sadakadishian soldier Ming had no rights so the concept of marrying is kind of alien to her. They decide they will follow Tok traditions, which is pretty much a civil ceremony. They ask the barkeep about how they register, he suggests, almost joking that they go to the constables office. Arriving at the constables office Ming and Ross sign the needed papers and are considered "married."
Garu and Fion miss Ming and Ross by minutes as they enter the bar. The bartender insults Garu as much as possible but after a while the elf buys enough drinks so that even the barkeep is willing to put up with him.
Karieen talks with her future husband (Jun) the lord of Deserata. She tells him about the "justice" that the elf has been talking about. Jun agrees that the "flogging" idea would probably cause a riot. He tells her that he will send a letter to the elf court and see if it can be settled another way.
On her way back to the manor Karieen passes the old temple and decides to go and cleanse it of evil. She encounters the former paladin Linda that warns against it until she has others to help her.The next day Ross, Ming and Estryellia set sail for Sorroth.

The party continues down the corridor, most of them are hurt and would like to leave the dungeon as soon as possible. They push through the tunnels made from a thousand years of rubble. They come to a door and Ross fails to find the trap, which puts a spear into his back. Ross finds and easily unlocks the door and the party stares into a room with a well in the middle of it. The western wall is covered with a cloud of vapor while the northern wall seems to have some unnatural blackness on it.
Ross, first in, shrugs off a spell (Hold Person but he made the roll). Two suits or armor come clanking out of the darkness and give battle. The fight takes awhile with occasional spells flying from out of the darkness. The suits of armor are brought down and the magical darkness is dispelled revealing an undead priest. After damaging the characters the thing is put to rest. Upon scouring the room the group comes up with some treasure. The well in the center of the room appears to be a passage to a lower level.
They lower themselves down into the well, inside they find a cavern filled with blue light. Ming, Estryellia and Ross recognize this room from when they were in the future, it's the Well of Tears. Looking around they find the holy pool that holds the Tears of Chaldisaya. They place seven measures of the water in the special container they have brought. Ross carves his name on the holy pool.
There is a Priest Gate in the room but since none of them are priests they cannot operate it. Eventually they make their way back to the surface and spend the night in the house of the Brown faction. Next day they begin their trek northward.
The two-day walk is uneventful and they arrive at the border with New Deserata an hour after the bridge is closed. Ming and Roscoe head to the communal Do house to get food and a place to sleep.Estryellia, Fionn and Garu go to the inn. Estryellia rents out the whole inn and a lavish banquet is laid before them of Sadakadishian treats.
Roscoe decides to go and visit the inn. At the door he is met by the ancient House Mother who deigns him entry because she doesn't think he looks worthy, of course she doesn't speak common (onlySadakadishian) and he doesn't speak Sadakadishian. Roscoe pushed past her and ignores the repeated protests she makes.Roscoe enters the main room (followed by the House Mamma). Estryellia tries to translate what the House Mamma is saying it's primarily a rant about how "When she was a girl Do's had manners." Estryellia mindful of the dishonor that Roscoe is committing in the name of the Red faction (her fathers faction) she asks him to leave.
Ross leaves but not before knocking over most of the furniture(Sadakadishian furniture is extremely light). One of the knocked over braisers starts a small fire (Sadakadishain houses are made of paper).
Next morning in the Do house several of the Blue faction comment that he heard that the Red's Do (Roscoe's faction) have declared war on"old women". Roscoe tries to engage one of the other Do's in achallenge but the warrior turns his back to him. Roscoe and Ming follow them into the eating room where Roscoe knocks the bowl of rice from the Blue Do's hands. Both of the Blue faction men rise; one is trying to calm his friend down (The Emror had issued an edict that Do's are not to fight each other). The four head into the back to finish "discussing" the insult where there is more room for blades. Luckily, Ming has some pull with the Roscoe and the other Do is able to convince his friend likewise, so instead of a duel the two warriorsgrowl at each other and leave.
A short time later they party crosses the bridge out of Sadakadish and in to the Deseratan lands. After a week and a half of hard travelingthe party arrives back at Sylvia's Rest. They hand the tears over to Van Karien.

Recently: The Creature known as Distaria was gravely injured by the forces of good, however the victory was not without great cost. Several of the hero’s of the forces of light have fallen and even the Goddess Chaldiasya did not escape injury. Heroes have been dispatched to the wilds of Sadakadish to retrieve several measures of a liquid known as The Tears of Chaldisaya. The liquid is to be used to cleanse part of the taint left by Distaria. Last time: The characters have arrived at the ancient fortress of Stand Town. In the buried ruins of the city lies their goal.
The fissure in the rock opens up into a proper corridor. Roscoe the Tok takes the lead as they walk through the buried streets. On either side of them are buildings who’s roofs have fallen in with the pressure of the weight from above, the air is hot and dry, there are signs that they party is not the first ones down here. Roscoe rounds a corner as a coal black feline creature lashes out with tentacles at the warrior. Ming Ho enters the fray as well. The others are kept out of the battle by the narrowness of the passage only allowing them an occasional arrow or magic spell into the combat.
After a lot of sweat and blood the creature dies. A resource full Roscoe finds a scroll on the floor uncovered by the battle. Unfortunately the scroll is keyed to priestly magic and therefore unusable to the party. Continuing down the corridors they crawl over several cave-ins and continue heading long the impromptu passageways. The warrior Tryn and sorcerer Estryellia notice that a liquid is falling from above then, they look up just in time to avoid the acidic ooze that is about to pounce on them. The thing splashes amongst the party and reaches it’s pseudo pods towards Trinn.
Almost as if planned a group of skeletons, both human and wolf appear further down the corridor, the party is forced to fight two foes at the same time. The ooze seems to be unphased by the swords and blows rained down upon it, only Estryellias magic seems to have a marked effect on the creature. Ross and Ming move towards the undead with Garu providing an arrow here or there. The skeletons are numerous and the fight is desperate against so many foes. The yellowish blob eventually covers the warrior Trin and he is forced to try to pull off the acid spewing thing off him before it dissolves him. Knowing that it might kill him the Sorcerer uses a bold of power on the thing, feeling that if the bold does kill him it will be a cleaner death than being digested alive.Ming, Ross and Garu are holding well against the horde of undead.
Garu summons up a wolf to aid in their fight. The warriors are doing well but the undead are 4 times their number. When the flash of her spell has dissipated Estryellia sees that although Trin was hurt by the spell the creature was destroyed by it. Burned by eldritch magic and partially consumed Trin draws his weapon and prepares to engage the undead. Prepping a valuable high-level spell the girl Estryellia moves up to where she can see the undead horde further down the hall. With a word, a seed of manna flies from her finger coming to rest further down the corridor where it explodes destroying most of the skeletal beasts. After a few seconds the warriors have dispatched the remaining undead.
The party binds their wounds and continues down the corridor. Oragirm the creature known as Time drags his burden slowly for the adventurers. The silence of the corridor is broken by the unexpected yell from Trin and Garu as tentacles grab them around the feet and pull them into side burrows. The two are pulled into separate small tubes where tenticled beasts begin to try to squeeze the life out of them. Ming dives down the hole that Trin disappeared into while Roscoe follows Garu. After a short fight in very cramped quarters the creatures are dispatched with long knives since there’s little room for anything else. When they all emerge from the tunnels they are all covered in the black ichor that was the tunnel monsters blood and other fluids.
Unfortunaly the monsters savage attack was too much for Trin, who was killed by the beast. Wiping as much of the black gick off the warrior Estryellia says the ritual of the Shining One over Trin and he is returned to life, since it is his first time having the ritual used on him he suffers few ill effects. Roscoe notices that the black juices have left deep marks on is blade. The rest of the party cleans up as well as it can and then continues.

Estryellia-Sorcerer
Garu-Elf Ranger
Trynn-Human Fighter
The party looks down into the great valley, both Ross and Estryellia remember the future they have seen where this plain is a vast battle field where the forces of the last enclave of humans fights the vangfur (vampire) hoard and how they both helped stave off the threat in that dark future. As the party makes their way down from the hills they make the acquaintance of a former partner called Trynn who agrees to join the party.
They reach the floor of the valley they see a fort flying the flag of Deserata and beyond that a large river with a bridge over it. Near the other side of the bridge is an obviously Sadakadishian village. As they are passing by the fortification they decide to stop in and see what’s inside. They buy a few things from the open-air market and wander around sampling Deseratan food like Peck Peck on a stick and baked pattie.
The group notices that several Deseratan Altmen led by a young officer dressed as if for a parade is following them. When they acknowledge the group the officer gushes about how he recognized Van Estryllia (not sure how, she was wearing a full burka) and that they had met when she was five, he introduces himself as Ian Hough. Ian tells the party that his uncle the commander of the fort would be honored if they party would dine with them and then spend the night before heading into “native” Sadikadish.
The party agrees and makes ready for dinner later that eve. The dinner is such that even Ross the Tok is stretched to his limit. Some of the food served was: Baked pattie with white and yellow sauce, Pressure-cooked squabs, Fish soup, Jellied peck peck, Sand (rice)Hassa baked ham, Custard soup and Small Smoog steak (without the stones.)
After dinner uncle Hough holds court telling Estryellia how he met her father several time back in “old” Deserata and how much he admired the Peace Lord. Commander Hoagh asks Ross to sing for them since he is obviously an entertainer (he was dressed in Do clothing, which the commander found “cute”). Ross sings a song that leaves the old man in tears (Maybe Ross has a career as a bard?). A servant comes in and reminds the commander that it’s the last hour of the afternoon (6:00pm) they all rise and toast the goddess Chaldisaya and Emror Jun Sailon. Garu enquires about the fate of thieves in the fort (while looking at Ross). The commander says that they mostly follow Deseratan custom and execute the offender but he uses his prerogative as commander to commute the offence from impaling to hanging. Commander Hough mentions that that is the difference between the civilized Deseratans and the “thieving sado’s” (Sadakadishians).
In deference to their host the characters say nothing. As the evening is coming to an end and everyone’s smoking some good Deseteran (aka Tok) pipe weed, Ian asks permission of his uncle to escort the party (meaning Van Estrellia) to the bridge. In their rooms that night Estrellia had a nightmare of her reflection in the mirror holding the ring the Lord of Light in her palm. The rest of the night goes without incident with only the forts guards calling off the hours of the night and morning to break the silence.
The next morning fortified with a quick breakfast and hot mugs of Byter Bean the party leaves the manor only to find about 20 soldiers lined up to escort them the ½ mile to the bridge. Ian is dressed even flashier than before and he helps Estryellia on to a horse (side saddle of course) for the grueling march. They cover the distance and Estryllia dismounts and along with the rest of the party crosses the bridge into Sadakadish proper.
The party passes through the town of Near Water without incident and soon finds themselves on the Southern Trade road. They pass several small shrines to the local Sadakadishian totems. Later in the day the road makes a noticeable rise and they see in the distance the ruins of Stand Town.
The party discusses the history of the city, which even predates the Sadakasian Empire. The small plateau, which the town sits on, is the only feature of the plane for miles and miles. Stand town is the traditional refuge of armies in retreat from larger foes and in many cases armies that have retreated here have been victorious against superior numbers, primarily the dreaded Tre Hum Da from the south. As the party draws closer they see hundreds of Sadakadishian laborers working on building a new foundation for the towns fortifications. Both Ross and Estryellia can see the outlines of the city of Stand Town they saw in the future being laid out.
The characters attempt to talk with several of the workers but get no response eventually they find an overseer who directs them to the current Peace lords encampment. The current Peace lord is the Lord in Brown who is overseeing the construction while Estryellia's father Lord Red is in the north. They go through Sadakadishian greeting formalities and ask permission to ask permission (common way of doing things in Sadakadish) to explore the ruins of the town for the Fountain of Chaldisaya.
The Lord in Brown gives both permission to ask for permission and permission to conduct the search. He adds that the city has had many of the buildings covered over with time and that what they are looking for is probably buried in a sub basement, maybe even a subsubsub basement. After a good nights sleep (Ross notices that there is a place to hang up his soul aka his sword) the party goes exploring the ruins.

Garu-Elf Ranger
Karieens introduction to Sylvia’s Rest society ends and everyone trudges home. Ross is in his room and hears some voices. Lighting a candle he sees no one in the room, his new hat is however in the middle of the floor. He retrieves it and lays down with it over his face. When he wakes up later the hat is back in the middle of the floor. Even when he ties the hat to his head the hat is back in the middle of the floor after he goes to sleep. He takes the hat over to Estryellia ( in the next room) to see if she can detect magic on it. “No, there’s no magic on the hat” she confirms.
Garu enters his room and sees that the elf that rescued him from the clutches of Van Sheree is there. He thanks the elf and inquires as to why he work up here rather than the elflands. The elf tells Garu that the Queen of the elves herself said that if Garu woke up in the elf lands he might never wish to leave them and there is much he needs to do in the land of the humans. The elf also tells Garu that there is one in the village that needs to be taught a lesson and Garu must help teach that lesson.
Karieen is heading back to her manor with an honor guard. They arrive to see a group of Manthootian warriors standing outside the gates, waving torches. They want to know where former priestess Linda is. They accuse her of stealing a “great one” (A young boy) out of the local Manthootian house. Karieen sighs and promises the warriors that she will look into the issue in the morning. They leave after one of the honor guards tells them to move along.
Karieen and the troops make their way to the temple instead of turning in for the night. Karieen goes into the temple and finds former priestess Linda with two boys. The children are playing with toy soldiers while Linda stands guard. Karieen notes that one of the boys is former paladin Marcus’s son; the other is obviously a Manthootian. Karieen talks to Linda about kidnapping children but the former priestess seems unfazed. She shows Karieen that there is only one piece of jagged metal still sticking out of her hand, meaning she needs one more child.
Linda tells Karieen that of the three paladins she will train she has been told that one will die a horrible death, one will betray the religion and one will be the tool of the goddesses fight for many years. Linda asks Karieen based on what she knows what she should tell a mother whose child she will take. Karieen gives a very good response about duty to the church and such. Then Linda asks if she thinks the woman will believe it. Karieen is unsure, then Linda withdraws the last shard from her hand and gives it to Karieen, saying that her unborn son will be needed as the final paladin, though he is years away Linda says she will come for him when it is time.
Roscoe leaves the room wearing the hat. He discovers that when wearing the hat he can see in the dark as well as see thought peoples skin. With practice he finds that he can also hear conversations of people far away. The party discusses the hat with Roscoe but he refuses to tell anyone where he got it from. He decides to go see Ming Hau his way to The Red (his master is known as The Red) chapter house Roscoe notices that he can see through the ground into basements of the nearby buildings, and then he begins to see strange shapes in the sky. At the Red House he meets Ming and they head to the ocean to enjoy each other’s company. At the ocean Roscoe starts to hear a voice that identifies itself as Ester.
When asked Ester says that she is on a ship far out in the ocean. Roscoe asks Ester to bring the ship closer and suddenly a storm raises up and the waves force him and Ming to higher ground. Off shore they can see a huge wall of water standing up. They both hear the voice of Tandy as he approaches; he’s wearing a red fez.
Tandy asks where Roscoe got the hat from (Tandy’s famous hat went missing last episode). Roscoe says he got it from a friend. Tandy says that he wants to see Roscoe’s hat. The Tok (Roscoe) steppes away from the dandy who has his arm stretched out to take it. Upon saying that he won’t let Tandy touch the hat Roscoe suddenly falls over.
When Ming gets to him she finds that Roscoe is dead.Despite his best efforts to console Ming, the monk is frantic to get Roscoe to a priest for healing. Tandy reminds her that with the gods in retreat there is no way to get a resurrection done. Finally seeming to tire of Mings grief Tandy snaps his fingers and Roscoe comes back to life. Tandy heads back to the town with his hat.
Estryellia finds out that her father is arriving by ship that morning. She goes to the Red House to await his arrival like a dutiful Sadakadishian daughter. After the welcoming ceremony is over she goes to her fathers chambers to talk to him. Her father is distraught that he has been the instrument of the destruction of so much of the army, however he says he will listen to her plight.
She confesses that her dealings with the Dark Woman Distaria have left her shaken, she is afraid for the first time in her life.Izaya (her father) who is being bandaged while she talks listens intently. When the young mage is done he tells her that there is nothing wrong with being afraid. He says that he is not ashamed of her for being afraid and knows that being his daughter she will learn to look the fear in the face and deal with the fate she has been given.
On to Stand Town
The party gathers their possessions and begins their trek along the Southern Trade Road. The road climbs the cliffs above Sylvia’s Rest they then march the twenty miles through the wood along the road to the village of Kida. Camping near the branch road that leads to Mountain Vale.
They party pushes through the forest and begins the climb over the low hills that separate the forest. Into two pieces. After an almost 30 mile march the party arrives at the village of Martby Morlan another recently build villages along the Southern Trade trail. They decide not to stop in the village; Ming mentions that it is named after one of the Deseratan warriors that led the Southern Crusades into Sadakadish . Estrellya adds that Paladin Martby also defeated a horde of Tre Hum Da that were coming up from the south, at this Ming gives credit to the former general for helping rid Sadakadish of the Tre Hum Da vermin.
After a continued march through the woods the group passes the city of Dymond Hold and heads into the mountains proper. Because the road is clear of snow the party makes good time going through the pass. At the summit of the mountains they can see the town of Near Water in the distance, the last outpost of the Deseratan Kennadom. Beyond the river near the Eastern Gate Mountains they can barely see the city of Stand Town.
Side Bar Adventure; Far to the North Van Sheree the general of the Voice from the East invites Scalla to her dinner table. She tells Scalla that their forces are in retreat from the elves attacks but that is of no matter. She offers the former human a goblet of blood, saying that when the Storm Walkers dined with her they seemed to enjoy that drink and since she is a part of their former power she might like it also.
Taking a small sip Scalla quickly drains the glass and then the bowl it was poured from. She finds that the elf blood makes her feel as if she were almost human again. Sheree tells Scalla that her spies have reported that the Southerners have begun rebuilding the paladins again. She laughs saying that they won’t have the time to let the paladins grow up before the forces from the Voice from the East attacks

Ross is spending the early morning hours at his master’s house, where he is being taught how to be “polite” in the eyes of the local Sadakadishians. He spends time working his master’s forge then he is taught about his place in Sadakadishian society. Roscoe is being trained as a Do (Doe). He is instructed on the three levels of southerner society.
They are:
The Do (samurai)
They are allowed to carry weapons and slay any non-Do caught carrying long bladed weapons. They are prevented from owning land; even the Peace lords the highest-ranking fighters in the land are ruled by this law. They are also forbidden from trading in real goods.
The farmers.
They are allowed to own land (in the name of the Emror). They are not allowed to use/or posse’s bladed weapons or armor. They are forbidden to sell goods to any but a merchant.
Merchants.
They are not allowed to own land or carry weapons/armor. They are allowed to purchase and transport goods.
As a Do Roscoe is told that a Do does not steal and would rather starve than pick up rice dropped by a farmer. He is also told that money should have no interest to a Do. His needs are taken care of by his master; he is fed and clothed by going to his master’s houses.
Garu spends much of the day roaming around town as well as testing his ability with his bow (using the new arm). Karieen decides to have a memorial service for Morgan and after hearing that there is also to be a choosing of paladins she chooses to have them combined. Karieen gives a eulogy for Morgan. (Which can be found here:http://lordfabianshire.livejournal.com/)
After the eulogy Van Linda lurches out of the crowd, still dressed in her old yellow gown and smelling vaguely of brackish water. She goes up to each of the Jagvocs of Myrone that has applied for the position of Paladin and dismisses them by naming their faults.
With none left she departs to the village. Several of the characters follow her. Karieen goes into the temple to pray for guidance. Arriving in the market place Linda moves quickly about and spies a young boy standing alone in the street. She looms over him. She says to the boy ”Are you afraid of me?” menacing him with the hand that is pierced by three long nails. The boy looks at her non-plussed and answers, “No, You smell funny”.
Linda laughs The boy looks at the woman’s hand and points at the nails sticking out of it, “Do those hurt”. She shakes her head and the onlookers watch as the boy pulls one of the nails out of her hand. Linda scoops the boy up and hold him up for the crowd to see as she says in a loud voice, “Child of broken paladins, I will forge this blade to be true." She then carries the boy up the hill towards the temple.
When she arrives at the temple she present the boy to Karieen. Seconds later the boy’s mother arrives carrying a sword. Both Karieen and Estryellia recognize the woman as Van Tannis the wife of the late Paladin Marcus. She says that she is the boy’s mother and her son; Marcus isn’t going to be a paladin. Both Karieen and Estryellia are surprised to see Tannis, who had supposedly died several years ago.
Tannis explained that the Goddess knew that Tannis as Morgan’s daughter would always be a target for Distaria so the Goddess hid her in the city of Go2. Only Morgan and Marcus knew that she was still alive. Hidden she and Marcus were raising their daughter (Ann) and her adopted son Marius (by Van Sheree). Tannis said that Maruis was very special in that he was pieces of two people that she loved very dearly and didn’t want to lose them, that is why she didn’t want him to become a paladin.
This issue is unresolved. That evening the characters are at the dinner to introduce Karieen to the upper class of Sylvia’s Rest. Estryellia is coerced by her brother Samis (a Do for their father) to attend and Roscoe, Fionn and Garu are invited by Karieen herself. As the banquet continued Fionn notices that he has a compulsion to sing the “Death of Paladin Marcus” song. He is able to keep himself from singing the song…barely.
Roscoe goes over to where Tannis is being escorted by Tandy Raidier (the grandfather of Emror Jun). When Tandy is off getting them drinks. Roscoe introduces himself to Tannis; he mentions that he has spent a lot of time with Estyrelia, some of it trying to save Tannis. She thanks him and in gratitude gives him a wide brimmed hat.
Roscoe happy with his prize heads off to show the rest of the party his new prize. As he is leaving he hears Tandy return from his errand and inquire with Tannis about the location of his hat. Near the end of the evening Emror Jun makes a surprise entrance (he was last hear from when he was at the Northern front). Emror Jun is carried into the hall since he took a serious wound to his leg in the last battle of Stevens Hold.
All of the participants watch as the Emror is carried to where Karieen is sitting. A large silver tray is produced, covered with a cloth. The cloth is whisked away to reveal a single shoe and a feather. With a wide grin on his face Jun presents it to Karieen who has no idea what to do. There is silence in the large room as everyone is looking at Karieen. From behind her she hears Tandy whisper, “pronounce it worthless”. After several other long moments of silence, Karieen indeed does pronounce it worthless. The crowd erupts in cheers as the first part of the Magadrillian Marriage Ritual is completed.
