Adventure Log #4

Adventure Log #4 (Stephens Hold)
Estryellia-Young mage, Morgan’s daughter
Aki-Professional killer
Kebridane-Mage
Marcus-Paladin of Chaldisaya
Serrif-Fighter with an “evil” twin
Scalla-Mage

The party decides to make a run for it and get out of the city before the battle starts. As they are sneaking out of the building the Patriarch and some Stevens Hold guards approach them. The priest tells them that the kenna has thrown his sister in jail and is inviting the forces of Deserata to take over the city. He tells the party that if they help him free the Kennis (the sister) he will cure the characters that were Feebleminded (see preceding adventure).

The party agrees and so with Scalla and Marcus in their right minds they assault the keep. Since the ramparts are lightly held the party gets inside the gates where they encounter a line of Deseratan soldiers armed with bullroarers (muzzle loading guns). Paladin Marcus roars in defiance and charges and all of the weapons miss him (I guess Marcus scared them and threw their aim off). Aki follows and between the two of them they dispatch the soldiers with very little damage to themselves. In the back of the party Estryellia and Scalla pick off some of the archers on the walls.

No sooner had they secured the yard of the castle than Jkennis Stephen appears atop the keep with a dagger to the throat of his sister. He berates the party for helping the Patriarch who is his sister’s lover. Sneering that the priest can have her he slits her throat and tosses the Kennis from the battlements.

Scalla and Marcus Dimension Door to the top of the Keep, while Aki, Serrif and Estryellia make for the door. On the battlements Marcus fights with the soldiers while Jkennis Stephen makes his escape and locks the door behind him, in almost no time the soldiers surrender to Marcus and Scalla leaving the paladin to try to get thought the door.

Downstairs Aki has gotten the main door open in time for Serrif to run in and catch Stephen as he tries to make his way down into the basement. Serrif and the Jkenna have a titanic battle on the stairs eventually Jkenna Stephen falls to the ground dead (Serrif wasn’t doing much better he was down to three points). Marcus and Scalla finally get down stairs and they all decide to go see if they can help the Patriarch. Despite his tears the old man is happy because he was able to raise the Kennis from the dead, she is weak but will recover her strength in time.

Scalla goes back into the keep to get (loot) Jkennis Stephens’s body only to find it missing. It seems that Stephen wasn’t really dead. He made his way down to the basement a trail of blood leading to the escape tunnel. The party decides to block the tunnel as best as they can then decides to get some rest rather than trying to follow him.

With the Keep taken the remaining Deseratan soldiers surrender to the city guard and the characters begin to plan the defense of Stephen Hold since the main Deseratan army is still sitting off to the north. The Patriarch has asked the part to stay for a few days to help out. Despite their reservations about the Kennis they decide that she is the lesser and more manageable evil.
