The party tries to take stock of what has happened this is what they know.

1. The Lord of Mountain Vale tried to kill his wife (Mauge of Dunshine). He was prevented in doing this by Jag Voc Mercy and the timely arrival of Maugs brothers men.

2. The commander of the 20th Infantry's son has been killed in his room.

The party discusses what has happened. Garu asks Jahn to read the scroll he found outside early this evening amongst Durserye's things. The mage reads it and then tells him that for his own good he should never mention that he has this scroll and never try to get anyone else to read it.

The party goes to Kenna Alexanders encampment for some answers. When they get their they find the still grief stricken Kenna mourning his son. He asks Jag Voc Mercy to take a look at him to see if he can be raised from the dead. Mercy tells him that he doesn't have the power to do that but he will take a look at the corpse. Kevin chimes in that he can raise the dead son if he is allowed to see him. The Kenna (not likeing Manthootian males) tells him that he may see the body but if he fails to raise his boy then Kevin will sacrifice his own life. Kevin and Mercy go in and see the body. The skin is a bluish gray mottled color and the hands are drawn up like claws. Jag Voc mercy inspects the corps and besides that fact that the joints and such are frozen in place and that the body has a huge erection there is nothing strange about it.

Kevin attempts to call the creature known as the Shining One (a resurrection deity that will bring back the dead in certain narrow circumstances). It fails, instead the body groans and moans. Kenna Alexander comes in and see's whats going on, he smacks Kevin upside the head and orders them to leave. They go to talk to Sanskrill the priest but he is of little help so they head back to the manor to get some rest.

Jag Voc Mercy is found by Vyord and given several big hugs for saving his sister. Vyord insists that Mercy drinks with him and they spend the night drinking.

Brock is sleeping. He wakes to find Durseraye in his room. She tells him that she has had to come back and decided to drop in on him and say hi. She mentions that she needs his help in a certain matter but first she needs to have sex. At first Brock declines but when she threatens to kill him Brock gives in. After sex Durseraye assumes the form of Kimi and she leads Brock out of the manor.

Garo sees this but takes no action since he has no reason to. Once outside Durseraye tells Brock that she has done him a favor. She leads him to a secluded spot and uncovers a body. When Brock looks at it he see's that it's the caravan mistress Julieanna, the person he was supposed to fight in a few weeks. Durseraye says that she could read his mind and sense his troubled thoughts so she decided to help him out.

They leave the corpse and head to the edge of town. They arrive at the cemetery and Durseraye says that she needs to be carried through it and deposited in the House of the Dead. Brock asks her why she doesn't just walk and Durseraye tells him that she is the anthisis of the wards placed in the cemetery. Brock carries her in and deposits her in the house, he hears a slight sizzling noise as she puts her feet on the ground.

In the house is the body of Klep, the Kenna's son. Brock asks what Durseraye wants with the body. She tells him that she has been sent to "help " him. She also tells Brock that he should turn his head and not watch as she does her work. Brock watches out the window ignoring the disgusting sounds he hears coming from behind him. Eventually his curiosity gets the better of him and he looks. He sees that Durseraye has distended her jaws like a snake and is swallowing the corpse. She pushes the feet in and then re-attaches her jaws, smiles and tells him she told him not to watch.

When carrying Durseraye out of the cemetery Brock asks what happened to Kelp. Durseraye says that he had trapped her in the Blister and wouldn't released her and that Kelp got what he deserved.

Later on Brock tells the rest of the party what transpired in the night. They discuss their options even the possibility of leaving Mountain Vale. The mage Jahn comes over and tells Garu that the scroll he found was a pact between Klep and a demon. The group decides that they'll keep this piece of information away from the Kenna.

Later on the Kenna comes and tells the party that his son has been restored to him and he needs to rest but otherwise he is well, however all attempts to meet with Klep are rebuffed. Kenna Alexander proposes that the party goes back into the dungeon and close the gate. Jahn has a potion that will close the gate for 24 hr's or more.

The party says that they would go but there is a stout wooden door at the bottom of the dungeon that they cannot breach. So the plan becomes that the party will make their way down into the dungeon while the infantry dismounts one of it's canons. The infantry will use the cannon to open the lower door and then they party will proceed deeper into the dungeon. The party agrees
